What are Junior Leagues?
For children involved in golf coaching, stepping onto a golf course can feel very daunting. Junior Leagues are our 'stepping stones', designed to break this down to manageable, enjoyable steps for children coached at our Golf Academy or elsewhere.
Blue League - This is the first step from the range to the course. In the Blue League children play 9 holes from our blue tees which are roughly 200 yards from each green on the Park Course. Once Juniors get to grips with this and have shot 55 or better on 3 occasions, they will receive a Golf At Goodwood cap and be invited to move on to the Green League.
Green League - Juniors play 9 holes from our green tees, this is the final stage of transition between coaching and playing full, 18 hole rounds of golf. By the time juniors complete the Green League they will be able to regularly shoot 50 or better, know how to mark a scorecard, understand basic golf etiqutte and will have 6 scorecards marked, ready to receive their first official handicap and become a full Junior Member. On completion of the Green League juniors will also receive a red or green Golf At Goodwood Cap.
The next step on our Junior Golf Pathway is Junior Membership; once a Junior has taken out membership he/she will be given their official CONGU handicap and will have access to Junior Competitions which include our Orange & Purple Leagues as well as the Junior Order Of Merit. Juniors who compete regularly in these competitions may also be given the opportunity represent the Goodwood Junior Team. From here, the sky is the limit!
Please book for each session and meet at the Golf Academy at 14:45.
